Darrell Baker 2009 Trips
Darrell Baker is one of those typical overnight successes. A guide for over 30 years, hosting fishermen in Alaska, waterfowl hunters, fishing on the Great Lakes and in the last few years fishing on Northern Illinois’ Chain of Lakes.
He produces remarkable catches where no one else can and is as unassuming and nice as you will ever meet. Just recently, he has begun to receive recognition by other top-notch anglers for his amazing angling skills.
Hall of Fame angler Spence Petros calls him maybe the best he has ever seen and he is definitely one of the angling world’s best-kept secrets. Best of all is he is a great teacher and he co-hosts Spence’s winter fishing classes.
Darrell first fished with us in 2006 on a trip with Spence and Daily Herald writer Mike Jackson on Clifton. Their catches were extraordinary. In 2007, he began hosting his own trips. In 2008, one boat on Darrell’s trip caught and released 412 fish in one day. That’s right, one day. Trophy pike, huge lakers, great walleye, and arctic grayling, Darrell’s guys catch them all. (see Darrell’s article on his 2008 trip)
In 2009, Darrell will be hosting two trips. The first trip, June 13-20, Darrell will lead a group back to his favorite fishing hole, Clifton Lake. That group is limited to only 8 anglers and is almost sold-out. Later on, Aug. 1-8, Darrell will be leading a group back to his other favorite, the Bain Lake system, for great mid-summer action. Pike in the weeds, big trout in the holes, big walleye and grayling, it’s another great week.
A trip with Darrell is a treat, a great angling experience. You’ll be fishing some of the world’s finest waters in great camps with a great angler offering expert advice. Darrell has no ego and loves sharing his fishing knowledge with everyone. He just wants to see people having a great time. This trip will sell-out soon too. For those interested, give us a call and we’ll hook you up (pun intended) If you would like to talk to Darrell himself or even book a day with him on the Chain, call 847-337-5559.
