Burnie Lake Testimonial
Ken,
Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our trip to Burnie Lake a couple of weeks ago. If it were up to me, I would fish 14 hours a day. In deference to my father (he'll be 80 in November) I took a more relaxed approach.
The job Ralph Lloyd did as your camp manager made it as easy as could be. The food was great, it was plentiful, and it was on time. He was more than an employee, he was a friend.
The portage he took us across would have humbled a Tiger tank but he handled it with grace and seeming ease. Ralph Lloyd is a good man to have on your side.
I've attached a photo of my dad's largest Northern Pike ever. It was caught on Long Lake and measured 49" and weighed at least 30 lbs.
It was caught on a single hook jointed Beno Eel from Luhr Jensen. She swam away unharmed. Ralph had told me he had fished in that area and had been bothered by a marauding Pike stealing Walleye off his shore lunch stringer.
Once the fish got so aggressive it actually left the water and ran into the back of the boat. He is convinced my dad caught the Walleye thief. The best part of the story? The fish swam away completely unharmed.
By the time another angler tosses a Rapala, Dardevle or Mister Twister jig in the same spot, that fish will be 51" long. I hope the next guy or gal is as careful as we were with her.
Thanks again for a great trip.
