Lake trout fishing in Canada, and more specifically Manitoba, offers an unparalleled experience with abundant lakes and rivers filled with these majestic fish. The North Seal River offers trophy lake trout fishing rivaling any lake trout fishery in Manitoba. When you book a trip with Gangler’s Fly-in Lodges and Outposts, you’ll have a shot at catching multiple lake trout in the 10-17 lb. range, trophies ranging from 35-42″, and even some real monsters up to 49″ (that’s a 50 lb. lake trout)! Rivers, channels, and sand points offer excellent habitat in the spring. Summer lake trout fishing has the trout descend into deeper holes as the season progresses, looking for the 48-52 degree waters they prefer. Summer lake trout run in fairly shallow holes, 40-80′ deep, easily accessible by trolling and vertical jigging

Time of year and

Water Temps

After the ice on the lakes breaks up, the big and small fish (Pike and Lake Trout) are ravenous and are sunning in the cold shallow water, absorbing heat after the long winter . Summertime schools of fish can be so concentrated that a jig will never reach the bottom before being attacked. Trout numbers in the summer can also exceed 100 fish per day per boat.

Trophy Species

Because the North Seal river system connects all of the lakes together, we benefit from having all species moving throughout the system. All our camps have 4 species, plus others like whitefish and burbot. We can guide you in catching these trophy fish on any of our lakes.
